Exploring the creative possibilities among different mediums, my body of work appreciates the aesthetic contrast of art and culture between the East and West. Growing up in Taiwan, then studying abroad in the United States at the age of fourteen, I have spent a great deal of time traveling the urban and rural regions of Asia and Europe. These experiences have raised my awareness, taste, and my creative ceiling.

My early career included bespoke, high-valued jewelry which incorporated precious elements and my insight gleaned from my trained aesthetic eye. In a way, my artwork was an enlightened form of communication– tailoring the specifics of each commissioned piece to the individual's profile, I uncovered the truth that no art is most beautiful. Instead, there is only the most suitable art. Suitable for the individual, ideal for the culture, and qualified for the moment.

During the global pandemic, my work included an increased usage of common elements such as paper, bud, and clay for my mixed media works, allowing for greater possibilities to explore emotion. Life is a force that's constantly changing and evolving; my artwork is empathetic to this fluid fact and takes part in capturing the moment.

Innovation and the growing challenge to create the most suitable aesthetic for each commissioned piece are what push the limits of my creativity.

As people, each of us is unique and non-repetitive. We can't be replaced and act on senses formed by an instantaneous combination of emotions. As we age toward death, we can feel frustrated yet understand that life's uncontrollable and unexpected nature is what makes it precious.

My art captures the sentiment of a life that cannot be grasped. More than any single natural element, I appreciate the ocean. The unseen water beneath the depths is abundant in unpredictability. At sea, one can observe peaceful tranquility and slow towering waves. Only storms show us a glimpse of the fast-changing bountiful lives beneath the surface at every moment.

For these reasons, my work explores visceral concepts like searching for beauty in imperfection, accepting the natural cycle of life, and reminding us that perfection is impossible and impermanence is the only way.

My sculpture work is primarily ceramic and mixed media; jewelry in gold, titanium, enamel, and precious gemstones. I frequently utilize the techniques of Japanese raku, wheel-throwing, slab construction, hand-forming, and bold brushstrokes.
